# Cataclysm dda Question

Hi, I have one question. Is the world in cataclysm creates as we start playing (like in minecraft or dwarf fortress) or is it scripted in the game and it can’t change ?? Sorry for my bad english. Thx

It is randomly generated based on the parameters set in the world options.

You can delete and recreate the world with the same rules or you can play the same world over and over with all your burned down buildings still there waiting on you.

You can also change the rules in the game your in but the changes won’t take effect till you travel to a new map region (Things like creature and item spawn and city size).
