That’s alright. As long as you can be productivedragon in your life, I can wait. Also, can I just suck your mods dick for a sec? I ALWAYS play with extended survival tools. It’s probably one of the most essential mods!

Anyway, I could do the spawnlist but the documentation needs to be MUCH better. Like, if I had an example of how to do it, I could slam out the nobs and grots tonight and then the rest of the orks tomorrow for the nightly. After that, I don’t really know what to do with it. I don’t know how to make cars and stuff so, until I do, Rhinos, Chimeras and drop pods are out. Maybe a scenario… Something like “the last guardsman” where it’s just you, surrounded by nids or orks or both at a small base with flak armor and a lasgun and nothing else. (<fuck me, run on sentences).

Anyway, if you have any other suggestions, let me know! Also, when and if this mod gets to 1.0 I’ll probs delete or archive this thread and make a new one.

Everywhere? They loot shit and the blow it up. Why do they need to be in a certain place? I mean, if I can figure out how to do it, it would be fitting to have structures made of junk and rubble and looted cars and craters EVERYWHERE! OH! Is it possible to have monsters start crewing a vheical? If so, I’m going to have a trukk spawn with lootas and a few nobs.

This mod has orka and the like already in there with their spawn list already made. Replicate with you monsters and you are golden. If its not working PM me and I will send you a copy.

Caution: When adding a monster to a list you have copy the entire list of and then copy your own. If you not then only your monsters would appear. This means that mods with monster list will be compiting and the one loaded last will get to add its monsters. PK’s mod added a compatability mod to get around this that includes and update spawn lift with monsters of other mods, when loaded last this patch allows monsters of both mods to spawn.

So, like, copy it, how? Literally take the whole shipped JSON and add my stuff at the end?

copy-from is a way for you to get something (say a knife) and use it as a template, then you edit from it what you want and the rest stays the same as the template you choose. This reduce the amount of lines of code you have to write. It doesn’t work for everything and Random want to see if it does for monster lists; if it does it will simplify the process and make mod author’s lifes easier.

If it doesn’t then you have to copy the ENTIRE monster list and add your stuff in the end. For example, you take the monster_zombie list, copy it to your monsterlist.json and then add your mod’s zombies to the end.

I tried adding the nids to the end of the vanilla monsters that spawn Not seeing them, though.

Does it add to an existing monster group, or is it its own monstergroup? The one I fixed up would have to be cited in a map. A tyranid hive or crash site or something I guess.

Try making their chance to spawn like 500% or something so to make sure they spawn and then switch it back if they do, then create a world with very high spawn rate and see if they spawn among the large number of monsters.

I got them to spawn in cities! All I did was copy the entire monstergroup file into my own file and add the monsters that I wanted! I’m uploading to git now!

Git is updated! Attack of the nids is now!

Next up is defining an area with a nid spawn point to act like fungaloids or triffids. I want a capiliary tower to constantly spawn more and more nids with wandering packs of gaunts for jeanstelers.

a monster group can have a max of 1000 spawn ‘points’ allotted at any given season/time. the game ignores any more and used the default mon for any less

mon difficulty plays a role in how.much it costs and thusly when it can spawn lower than 20 and they wont trigger danger text and color

Hmm. I’ll test this then. The fact that the anthill wasn’t entirely replaces with shoggoths is promising.

…nope, nevermind. Not promising. Using copy-from on GROUP_ZOMBIE to try and add shoggoths to cities, without having to override the whole monster group, led to a city filled with basically only vanilla zeds.

I then realized my earlier effort to add to ant monstergroups actually spawned nothing but the default monster, giant ant. So it seems that using extend doesn’t work at all. D:

Orks will be in tonight’s update.

Tonight’s update will encompass four types of Tyranids and three Orks, all with enough Dakka to make Gork blush. All of the new monsters are put into the vanilla sqawngroup with zombies.

I also added a Big Shoota and I’ll see about making custom building and terrain features next.
