I have encountered cars compressed into a single tile in build 2597.

The whole chasis and all other parts are all piled up into a single map tile.

Yeah that seems to happen when you import a save from a version prior to 0.B-2595.

Cars already existing get compressed any that you find after thou should spawn normally.

Looking into it, sorry about that.

Fixed, you’ll need to import your old save as there is no way to rescue the vehicles from the singularities.

Ah well, there goes that solar car in the one save I loaded in that version. My other saves are untouched, can confirm I had the same issue with that exact build (2595). Thought it was funny, took a screencap for the version title but it seems I won’t be needing to upload it. Let’s hope my other cars are spared 😃

So if I skip that build, I should be fine?

Yes, there were a few builds affected, but after the fix it will load saves properly that were saved before the problem appeared.

Fast fix ^^
I had a laugh and will just roll a new char no problem for me.

Thx Kevin.

I’m still experiencing this problem. I restored my backup (from before this problem appeared), did a ‘git pull’ and compiled the game. Did this right now, like 10 minutes ago. Loaded my save from before the problem arrived, but vehicles are still singularities as described in this thread. Maybe I’m doing something wrong? I didn’t do a ‘make clean’ - only ‘make -j3 NATIVE=linux64 USE\_HOME\_DIR=0 RELEASE=1 TILES=1’

It’s no problem for me personally since I have a backup of the game, but I thought I’d report this anyway. Also, I like to live on the bleeding edge of freshly committed code 😉

Sometimes making clean helps in this sort of situation, so can’t hurt to try that. Thanks for reporting, though.

Build 2601 here, no problems…

Strangely, I’m still having this problem! I did a ‘make clean’ as suggested, a ‘git pull’ today January 17th, and compiled it. Copied my old save over to the new build, but no luck. Car singularities all over. Then I tried downloading the latest experimental build (from [http://dev.narc.ro/cataclysm/jenkins-latest/Linux/Tiles](http://dev.narc.ro/cataclysm/jenkins-latest/Linux/Tiles) ) - but that one won’t start because it doesn’t find libsdl2-mixer even though I have it installed. I’m on Arch Linux, 64 bit. If anyone knows a solution to my problems I’d be very grateful 🙂

Just checking: your old version wasn’t saved post-singularity? (We can’t undo them; the fix was to prevent them from recurring.)

We have been having code overhauls recently that caused inter-OS issues, so that could somehow be borking things here. (64-bit support is a separate build, IIRC, and that’s pretty new too.) In any event, yeah, veh singularities are crappy and we regret the inconvenience.
