"Ascension mod" or: "Winning DDA: the mod"

There are no longer custom versions of the 3 mods, this just adds content to them. Drop Winning_DDA folder into mods directory, choose the mod ingame and you’re good. The other links up there are to the newest versions of those mods.

I plopped in Winning_DDA but it says I don’t have it’s dependencies. What am I doing wrong? I haven’t installed this mod for a looooooong time.

well, you still need to have PK’s, Cata++ and blazemod installed separately. Newest versions are linked in the OP

Ascension says that it needs PK’s Rebalance so it seems to fit in here.

I had the same problem. The root issue seems to be that the Siyalatas version of PKRM is incompatible with the latest CDDA build, so you need to use the other version of PKRM instead. Here’s how I got everything to work:

1. Pull CDDA Build #8336 using e.g. the game launcher tool (latest build)

2. Install Ascension by clone/downloading it from git and extracting \WINNING_CDDA\ into the mods folder

3. Install the latest version of Arcana by clone/downloading it from git and extracting \ARCANA\ into the mods folder

4. Install the Dissociativity version of PKRM by extracting \PKS_rebalancing_master\ into your mods folder, getting it from the clone/download of https://github.com/Dissociativity/PKs_Rebalancing. The other version of PKRM does not work right now.

Start CDDA and you’re good to go. You only need to select Ascension mod when creating a world in-game, as it will autoselect the other necessary mods.

It may be helpful to include the last tested version of CDDA and commit of Arcana / PKRM in the OP instructions so that we know of a safe version for installation that may not become dated by new commits. Just a friendly suggestion.

Both versions of PK have been in the OP for a while now, siyaltas’ just happened to be a personal preference back then and it used to be as updated as the main one way back when, then stuff happened that broke compatibility and was quickly fixed by dis’ and it took more to update siy’s.
Long story short: if one version of PK doesn’t work with the latest experimental, use the other. Arcana has only one version. DDA gets updated like 4 times a day.
It’s not exactly rocket science.

Winning DDA + Cata++ = i am in hell for good…

Winning DDA increase difficulty by 200% (i love it)

Cata++ adds a monster that regenerate so quickly that Anti material rifle is the only solution (good)

Personally, I hate the concept of too much magic added to the game as a default. Modding magic is fine. The pseudo technology is fine though. At least it makes the attempt at realism.

This mod is broken again after a recent cdda update (9166). I hadn’t updated in a few weeks so I’m not sure which version broke ascension. Both pk’s and arcana work by themselves, so I’m sure ascension is the problem. Here’s the error I am getting when trying to begin character creation on a new world:

I’m getting three errors I need some help with, using the version Gunblast posted a couple weeks ago.

1. monster mon_blob_brain has no harvest entry
   This is a known error that from what I could find online, doesn’t actually do anything. Still, the error with blazemod has been around so long that I thought it weird it’s still there O_o

2. There are too many mandatory overmap specials (74 > 72)
   Also known error, solution is I guess to turn some mods off. Which do you suggest I turn off? I have More Locations, Fuji’s More Buildings, Mapgen Demo and Urban Development. Basically all the ones packaged in the Launcher.

3. invalid overmap terrain id “hell_city_entranceNW”
   This is the one that’s actually causing my game to crash, and I can’t figure out how to solve it. It goes on to list almost every overmap id from hell_city as invalid (basically all the ones that are from PK’s and not the ones added in Ascension). The error only happens when running Ascension, it does not happen running just PK’s and Arcana.

Hello, I’m not currently updating this project anymore, mainly because I’ve been banned by mr Kevin for 1000 years here and on github (lol) for disagreeing with him over minutiae. I also hear that LUA support is going to be dropped, which can’t be good for PK.
Anyway, I can’t close this talk anymore and there is a chance this might actually get deleted (I tried posting several months ago and it got deleted, dude can really hold a grudge).
Anyway, my hands are tied until 3018.
