# AI summary on discourse

Do you use it? I like how it writes summaries longer than entire threads. I find it funny how its completely separate from everything. Discourse could absolutely utilize it as a powerful RAG search engine that understands context and not just doing text match, cause current search is atrocious. Right now Discourse suggesting to me that my topic is similar to topics about sewing cause of rags and threads mentions, which RAG search would not do.
My point is, finding past discussions of some ideas is hard on Discourse right now if you don’t know exact keywords to search for and then I see this microscope exactly suited for such a purpose but you are only allowed to use it to hammer nails. That is, summarize threads in more letters than they were written.

The result is fine when I use it to summarize my lengthy survivor diary post. It seems more like written by someone who doesn’t play much cdda. It treats that as a generic fiction and omits details important to gameplay. It also focuses too much on the first few lines.

 Epic summary of a [thread](https://discourse.cataclysmdda.org/t/remove-the-debuff-for-killing-zombie-children/17885) about gender norms and toxic masculinity. Reading the thread and then summarizing it is hilarious.

I don’t use it purely on moral grounds. Not only is it causing an economic bubble that will make the housing crash of 2008 look like losing a quarter under a vending machine, consume more water and electricity than a city in only a year, but also has been clinically shown to cause psychological and cognitive problems from continued use.
Unless your AI works out isolated from the internet “out of box” there is no reason you should be using an AI
